As a domestic violence advocate, I have heard all types of views around domestic violence. Some people think it mostly impacts women who have a low socioeconomic status, while others think it’s the women’s fault for staying in the relationship. Personally, I believe those thoughts are incorrect and signal a bigger problem in our society.
Domestic violence impacts women from all socioeconomic backgrounds. It doesn’t matter if you are an attorney, doctor, mayor, or therapist domestic violence can enter your life. Based on my experience being a professional women actually increases the chances that you might experience domestic violence.

Nancy the Vice Mayor of Coral Springs is an unfortuante reminder that domestic violence impacts women from all of backgrounds. Her life ended much too soon as a result of domestic violence.
