National Day of Rest for Black Women

Yesterday on March 10th Black women celebrated a day of rest. It was a day spent focused on us prioritizing our self-care. For many Black women, we have been taught that taking care of others is fine and we can address our health and well-being later.

The consequences of neglecting ourselves have come with a high price. Many of us are fighting chronic conditions like hypertension or autoimmune diseases like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. While many things contribute to these conditions, stress is undoubtedly a factor.

While the National Day of Rest has ended, let us not forget that we deserve to have a healthy mind, body, and soul.
